Explore yoga through architecture | Resourcing reach out

Hello dear friends,

Greetings from Bali. Hope you are all well around the world.:white_heart:

Here to call out for some resourcing, and here’s the story:

.

.

I have been passionate about natural materials (bamboo & earth) and the idea of sustainability, but now I feel that they are just part of the holistic picture that speaks to me, which is

Exploring yoga through architecture

------ how space touches people, how space brings wellbeing, happiness, how space makes people feel tranquil, genuine, grounded, in harmony with the world, how awareness of our (built) environment can be brought to the public,..

I am very curious about it, and I wanna know how to learn more about it from people’s perspectives and points of view. Hence, I’d like to ask for some recommendations on the two directions below.

  1. Reading / Watching / Listening
I have this to-read list, but would love to collect more.
  • Healing Spaces: The Science of Place and Well-Being
  • Atmospheres: Architectural Environments. Surrounding Objects
  • Making: Anthropology, archaeology, art and architecture
  • A Modern Way to Live
  • The Eyes of the Skin
  • The Timeless Way of Building
  • The Thinking Hand
  1. Studying
I am considering doing a master to build the narratives and learn about research. So far, master of architecture in KU Leuven is the only one I feel might suits me well, since they have three engagements ------ craftsmanship, urban culture, mediating tectonics. But it’d be nice to know more options, or advice on if there are working/intern opportunities that I could consider besides studying a master.

(I feel none of my photos can stand for this topic, so just put a blurred photo of nature as header here.)

Years ago I was given an old hard copy of Christopher Alexander’s work A Pattern Language by my “ex-boss” Ed Mazria at Architecture 2030. Here I found a soft copy! It’s a book you could pick up, start anywhere and stop anywhere https://arl.human.cornell.edu/linked%20docs/Alexander_A_Pattern_Language.pdf

I can second that book! A great resource to think with the urban form of the world and that patterns are built into the ecology around us.

RE: Master programmes. One I adore is this one: Master Programme | The Master programme at the Design Academy Eindhoven, or the The Sandberg Instituut.

some fellowships I have been eyeing: https://www.janvaneyck.nl/

A lot in The Netherlands, but I am also curious about other programmes around the world.
